My Top 5 Book Series!

1. Harry Potter by J.K Rowling.

Well of course this was going to be on my list, it's what really got me into reading, I mean I had read the likes of Roald Dahl books but Harry Potter was what really got me into being a hard-core reader. I started reading this series when I was 8, my dad bought me the first 4 books for Christmas and so I started reading it that night. I'll be honest though, before my dad got me it, somebody else had ordered it for me from a magazine because I liked the sound of it and thought ooo magic, but when I actually received the book and I was like, ehh I'll read it eventually and just never picked up because I thought it sounded naff. But because my dad had bought me the first 4 I felt obligated to read them and I am so so glad that I did because Harry Potter has become a huge part of my life and I feel that it's made me who I am today, Harry Potter will continue to be my top favourite series of all time, altogether there are 7 books in this series.

Synopsis: So I'm sure everybody know what Harry Potter is about - but for those of you who don't I will explain to you what it is about. Harry Potter is an ordinary boy who lives with his vile Aunt Uncle and Cousin in an ordinary house in Number 4, Privet Drive. But when letters start arriving addressed to him in green lettering and a stamp on the back his Aunt and Uncle confiscate his letters. Then on his eleventh birthday a great big man knocks down his door and tells him that he is a Wizard and has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and so everything Harry knows is about to change forever, but for good, or bad?

2. The Wardstone Chronicles by Joseph Delaney.

Now this is another series that I picked up not long after I finished Harry Potter series, I think I read this when I was around 13, I read the back of it and thought it sounded really intriguing, it sounded scary and I was interested in a series that dealt with ghosts and ghouls and witches and boggarts and so I picked this up. I fell in love with this series from the moment I read the first book. Altogether there is 13 books in the series and also a spin off from Tom's perspective who is the apprentice that the Spook takes under his wing to train so that he can become the next Spook when he retires or if he dies. Its a great story following Tom growing up and facing battles that he never thought he would have to face.

Synopsis: Someone has to stand against the dark. And you're the only one who can
For years, the local Spook has been keeping the County safe from evil. Now his time is coming to an end, but who will take over? Many apprentices have tried. Some floundered, some fled, some failed to stay alive. Just one boy is left. Thomas Ward. He is the last hope. But does he stand a chance against Mother Malkin, the most dangerous witch in the County?

3. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.

So I picked this up on a whim I quite liked the sound of it and thought that it sounded interesting and I was right, it was unlike anything I had read at the time - it had demons in it, some badass shadowhunters and a lot of twists and turns it was like a rollercoaster. I loved this book it soon became one of my favourite series, so much so that I even got a tattoo on my wrist of the angelic rune. I felt that throughout the whole story Cassandra Clare's writing improved so much, and I was so happy with how it ended, it's such a good series and it can really help some people get into reading I feel. Altogether there are 6 books in this series.

Synopsis: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy? This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

4. Black City by Elizabeth Richards.

If you follow me on Instagram then you should of been expecting this to pop up here because it is literally my favourite trilogy that I have ever read, it's so amazing! I read the first book in 2 sittings because I just couldn't put it down, it hooked me in and I wasn't able to put it down because I needed to know what was going to happen at the end of every chapter - there were so many twists and turns and so many cliff-hangers that kept me at the end of my seat to find out what would happen in the next chapter. It's unlike any dystopian young adult book that I have ever read, I highly recommend this to everybody that I speak to, especially if you love Dystopia novels. So of course with is being a trilogy there are 3 books in this series.

Synopsis: Deep in the heartland of the United Sentry States are the burning ruins of the Black City, a melting pot simmering with hostility as humans and Darkling's struggle to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of a brutal and bloody war. A wall now divides the city separating the two races. Trapped on the wrong side of the wall is 16 year old hustler Ash Fisher, a half blood darkling who'll do whatever it takes to survive, including selling his addictive venom Haze to support his dying mother. When he meets Natalie, hatred soon turns to a love that could be punishable by death.

5: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

Okay so I put this series off for so long because I was never a huge fan of Vampire stories and I'll be 100% honest it was because of Twilight that I got put off Vampire stories because of how much I didn't like Twilight, and no it's not just because of the whole Harry Potter and Twilight feud, in all honesty I couldn't give a crap about that whole ordeal because they're nothing alike anyway so who cares. I eventually started to slowly to get into Vampire novels thanks to the Darren Shan series and after reading the back of this book and my best friend ranting on about it for ages I finally relented and picked it up and decided to give it a go and I am so so glad I did because this series is amazing! Rose is such a sassy teenager I love it, and it's got some badass fighting in this, and some pretty awesome characters. The character building in this is so good, Rose goes from a bit of a whiny cow to a complete and utter bamf. So there is 6 books in this series.

Synopsis:  St Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school - hidden away, it's a place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St Vladimir's where the girls must survive a world of forbidden romances, a ruthless social scene and terrifying night time rituals. But most of all, staying alive.

Thank you for taking your time to read this if you did - any of these on your top 5? Let me know! :)

Before I start this review I just want to clarify that these opinions are all my own and this is just how I feel about the book. I also want to point out that it won't be spoiler free, so if you have not yet that don't read any further, this is just for people who have already read the book. Okay so now that I've cleared that up, time for me to do my review.

So let's start off by saying that I was highly disappointed with this book, like I would say that this series is one of my favourite ones, Heir of Fire is one of my favourite books that I have read this year, and I was so so excited to get my hands on this that I went to Waterstones on the day that it came out just so that I could pick up the book and start it that same day but... I wish I had of waited a bit longer, because it wouldn't of made any difference about it. So shall I start off by saying that I felt like this could of been at least 200 pages shorter, because for the first 200 pages at least it was Celaena dropping her assassin name and going by her birth name again: Aelin, then it was trying to figure out how she was going to save Aedion and then it was her actually saving him and then for a lot of it he was recovering from a wound that was half healed anyway but because the stitches ripped it took him even longer to recover even though he was basically nearly healed fully!

Then Rowan returned and don't even get me started on their relationship, my god it was such a forced relationship in my eyes, like she was literally swooning over him so much, he returned and she basically bathed him, wouldn't or couldn't leave him alone, was constantly touching him, and Rowan was just as bad constantly thinking to himself just how amazing Aelin was. She also was a complete bitch to Aedion, when he found out about their blood oath obviously he seen his arse a bit and she was just a complete dick about it, saying that even if they hadn't done it yet she would still do the blood oath with Rowan because he earned her trust, what and everything that Aedion went through isn't good enough?!?! I just feel that she changed the characters way too much compared to how they were in the first 3 books, i.e the whole love story between Rowan/Aelin was just too much, they were originally just good friends/mentor and then all of a sudden she isn't wearing underwear just so she could 'tease' him, I'll be honest I thought that was pathetic and didn't like how she did that, I also found it so frustrating how he kept saying that he couldn't do it and didn't want anything to happen with them then as soon as she basically threw herself on him, he couldn't wait to get his hands on her, what happened to them just being friends and him being her mentor! I seriously don't understand where all these feelings came from, from both of them!

I also worked out that she has literally had feelings for like 4 different people and she is only 19!
  1. Sam
  2. Dorian (kinda)
  3. Chaol
  4. Rowan
And each one of them have in some way or another confessed their feelings, 3 of them have even said they loved her and she hasn't once said it back! Who is she going to move onto in the next one.. :')

I was just getting so annoyed with Aelin all throughout this book, she was far too clingy with Rowan and just disregarded every other character apart from Lysandra who she hated in the first 2 books!
Also, when she kept wandering off and not telling anybody where she was going, or whenever she needed to plan something out she would allow Rowan to know but would never tell Aedion what was going on, she just made out like she couldn't wait to see him and they spent a whole night talking about what had happened with them and then she couldn't care less about him. They also used Lysandra's jeweller a lot to get out of some of the tough situations.

Chaol though, I mean it's annoyed me how he has just been pushed to one side. Team Chaol all the way! I really hope that she does more with him next book, and he best be able to bloody walk! I could sit here and type for hours about how amazing I think he is, but I'm just trying to get across all the things I dislike. I will say one thing though, I'm glad that Chaol is happy with Nesryn but I want him and Aelin to be together, I just love them so much :(

One of the main stories I was really invested in was Elide and Manon's characters, Manon was my favourite in Heir of Fire, so I was so excited to find out what was going to happen to her in this one and oh I just love her, words can't begin to describe how much I love her, I also am 100% positive that something is going to happen with her and Dorian like definitely. But Elide and Manon where my favourite in this one, I like how she became a bit protective with her. And when Asterin told her about the baby I genuinely nearly cried, it was so heart-breaking. I really don't have anything bad that I want to say about Manon, she's just flawless. The whole fight with Manon and Aelin was amazing though, I loved how badass Manon was, but I could be being bias because I just love her and think she's fabulous! Also the whole Arobynn thing I wasn't too fussed about, I kind of wished that Aelin had of killed him to get her revenge but I wasn't too fussed that Lysandra did it because lets be honest she had just about as much reason too, if not more.

The ending was another thing that I liked, I enjoyed the big twist that she did with the king, I thought that was clever and thought it was really well thought out. So with all that ranting out of the way, I would still recommend you read it if you like the rest of them and I will be continuing with them, because I felt similar with the second book but I loved Heir of Fire, so who knows maybe I'll love the next one. Anyone else feel the same? Let me know! Thanks for taking your time to read this :)

**********

I'm pretty disappointed that this series is over, I started reading the Hush Hush series around the beginning of the year (I did go and look on my goodreads for the exact date but it looks as though I never put in on my Currently Reading shelf - whoops. I'd been dying to read the series since about this time last year and I finally got my hands on the first book in this series for Christmas 2013, which I was super excited for so when I finally decided to read the series I got pretty excited for it as it was an anticipated read. So the first three books I obviously haven't reviewed because I wasn't into my book reviews as much as I am now, so yeah. I overall have enjoyed this series a lot, I think the plot and the character development have been really clever and all the characters have their own specific personalities which you can definitely relate to some and some that are a little bit more complicated than others. Other characters that you can fall in love with and will always have a special place for them in your heart and others that you just cannot wait to die so you don't have to read another page from their perspective.

So this is about a girl called Nora who meets a mysterious guy called Patch - Patch takes an immediate attraction to her and they realise that they start to meet each other everywhere that they go, be it the cinema, the arcades or just going the shop. They also then start going out with one another which is frowned upon by her mother and her best friend Vee, (I should also probably mention that her father is dead and its just her mum and her) who both take a dislike to him. By the second book they have split and gone their separate ways due to Nora confessing her love to him and him not returning it back to her, she then finds out he has been standing around her rival Marcie. This then leads her to become close friends with Scott and through him she finds out that a person called the Black Hand was the one who killed her father. It also then comes to her knowledge that Hank Miller who was Marcie's father was her real father as her mother was having an affair with him, then she is captured by Hank at the end of the 2nd book. Three months later Nora wakes up within a graveyard to discover that her mother is now dating Hank Millar. She has no memory of Patch but has moments of deja vu when she hears his name. Along with Scott and a boy named Jev, Nora begins researching Nephilim after her many flashbacks. In the process it's revealed that Jev is actually Patch and that Hank is the Black Hand. Nora eventually begins to regain her memories of Patch and Hank through flashback memories and is ultimately forced by Hank to make a choice between the deaths of herself and her mother or becoming a Nephilim. Unwilling to cause her mother's death, Nora agrees and becomes immortal. Hank tries to send Patch to Hell using one of his feathers, but is stopped when Nora shoots him to death. The book ends with Patch revealing that he had the chance to become human, Nora discovering that she has been made Hank's heir and the leader of his group of nephilim, and that a war between fallen angels and Nephilim is unavoidable. Yet could they jump and not be bound by the unlimited power of the only but not only devilcraft. Nora and her fallen angel boyfriend Patch have had a pretty rocky relationship, and now they finally get to be together. But, Nora has to deal with the fact that she is now the leader of the nephilim army, she has to deal with the raging war between them and the fallen angels. Nora and Patch are determined to do what it takes to finally just have a normal life together, but as time goes on, Nora has to figure out where her loyalties lie. Nora and Patch devise a plan to bring the two sides to peace, but as time is ticking it's getting harder for Nora to decide if peace or war is best. Nora has many nephil friends, including Scott and her new, sexy lieutenant Dante who are determined to help her become the leader she needs to be, but as Nora goes deeper into the world of her new race she finds things that could destroy her, including a dark addiction that Nora might not be able to shake. In the end all plans of peace are lost and the nephilim and the fallen angels must go to war. Dante is revealed to be the antagonist.

So a lot happened throughout the whole series, she found out she was actually a Nephilim and that she had to lead them to war, poor Scott dies after him and Vee start dating and Vee was actually happy in a relationship and that Vee is also Nephilim which I was absolutely gobsmacked about, out of all the twists and turns that the books took I think that was the one that actually made my draw drop because I never ever thought she would be - although I kind of like the twist that she did on it I also thought that maybe it could of done without that and that Vee could of just been a normal human girl but yanno that is what makes books more interesting and more captivating when she throws a massive twist in the book. I was actually pretty happy with the ending of this book and how she ended the series altogether - like adding the little epilogue at the end, what I was not happy about and what I don't think I will ever be happy about is that Scott gets murdered by Dante - I always knew there was something a bit off about him, he just had that shifty way about him, like he was always hiding something. And the whole devilcraft obsession that she went through was a little bit weird but she did it in a really clever way that I actually enjoyed it. I would 100% recommend this series especially if you're into your fallen angel and nephilim series, then this is definitely a really good read. I love love love this series and its become one of my top 10 series that I could just read every year, which I probably will next year. Also the whole Patch's feather being burnt actually gave me a little lump in my throat and I was actually so gutted by the fact that he may be dead - but then when he came out of hell everything was all better thank god! Also the little diary entry by Scott at the end was so sweet, it was well obvious that he liked her though, but it was still so sweet! So yes, to wrap this up, if you haven't already read this series, then do so and if you have, what did you like about it?

The Girl With All The Gifts by M.R Carey.

Product details;
Publisher: Orbit Books
Genre: Dystopia/Zombie
Paperback460 pages
Publication date: June 2014
Rating: 2 out of 5.
Ages: 16+

Synopsis:
Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class.

When they come for her, Sergeant Parks keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite. But they don't laugh. Melanie is a very special girl.

Review:
Okay so just reading that synopsis doesn't it want to make you go out and buy the book and read it, it sounds so gripping and so unputdownable - but let me tell you that you're in for a rude awakening, because although it sounds like a totally awesome book and it sounds so captivating and the type of book that you will just fly through it really isn't in my honest opinion. Now let me just make this clear, I actually like zombie movies, TV shows, and I quite like a lot of horror films, they don’t phase me the way they bother some people. So when I saw that this was the best thriller book of the year, and everyone was hyping it up and saying that it wasn’t for the faint hearted I got pretty excited because I haven’t actually read a thriller book before so I couldn’t wait to start it. But I have to say I was so disappointed by what I read - I was expecting this big thriller story that was going to keep me on the edge of my seat and keep me anticipating the next chapter, and I really thought it would be the type of book that I would literally finish in a couple of days but it took me like a week because I just didn’t want to carry on with it and I didn’t want to even continue reading it. But I battled through and I finished it and even the end was so disappointing and so annoying that I actually hated the book even more.

So this girl called Melanie who is the main character of the book is a hungry as they call them in the book, except that she thinks and acts like a normal human, she is locked in a cell and is only allowed out if she is strapped to a board and wheeled around to get to her classes - like all the other children in the book. She has feelings, she has emotions and she also has knowledge which is unusual for a zombie of course. She notices two of her classmates leaving the base and going to visit Dr Caldwell, she waits for days upon days for these children to return until it dawns on her that they will probably never return. It then comes to her knowledge that Sergeant Parks has to take Melanie to Dr Caldwell, once arriving in her lab she realises that she has been dissecting the kids and testing them to find out about they’re mutation and to find a cure for them. It turns out that she needs to do these tests on Melanie. Now baring in mind Melanie has grown fond of her teacher Helen and Helen has grown fond of her, so as soon as she realises Melanie has been taken and it about to me tested on she interrupts and saves her, telling Dr Caldwell she get her hands off her. This is where the book gets a little bit exciting because the hungries break through the defences of the base and start mauling at the soldiers and the workers before they try and come for the Melanie, Helen and Dr Caldwell who are all locked in the lab. They escape along with Parks and Kieran who I will admit I was actually really fond of and totally pissed off when he did what he did to him.

So they’re going between houses trying to find refuge before they come across a lab that’s inside basically a motor home called Rosie here is where a lot of the book just goes downhill, nothing much happens, we find out that Dr Caldwell is dying and doesn’t have long to live and she is desperate to find a cure, Melanie finds a house that is full of hungries that have the same senses of knowledge that she does and also Parks and Helen do the dirty business, because why the hell not, they’re gonna die eventually anyway. Eventually Melanie confronts Dr Caldwell and asks her why she’s so special which she explains to her, then Caldwell dies (hallelujah) and then Parks gets munched on and Melanie shoots him as he asks her to, Helen gets knocked out and when she wakes up Melanie is waiting for her with a bunch of other kids as if they’re back in school and then it ends. Which to be honest is a bull shit ending which makes absolutely no sense!

So let me just start by saying it was a waste of a read and it was not scary in the slightest, I've watched scarier episodes of Supernatural than what that book was. It may be rated for 16 and over but I would say 14 year old could read it, especially the way some video games are now days, you could handle reading about guts and blood, because that’s all that’s mentioned, how is that even scary?! I feel like the book started off good and it had its moments, like he knew how he wanted it to go, and he knew what the end game of the book was going to be but he just didn't know how to end it and the character building was so boring and there was no real character building it was just all so slow and so blah. I mean a lot of people love this book, like A LOT of people but I just wasn't fussed on it at all, and I’m actually really disappointed that I didn't like this as I was so excited for it, and it just sort of didn't have anything happening for me. So again another not so positive review

Summary of the book:
It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

My review:
So I really hesitant to start this series to begin with, and I know this is the second book before anyone starts saying anything, I read the first one in this series quite a few months ago and I don't really see the point in doing a huge review on it because I cannot remember it 100%.
So back to the review, to start of with I was pretty excited to start this one after reading the first one, although like I said I didn't want to read the series much because I had watched the trailer for the film and it looked really lame, but my friend persisted and told me I should read it and I'm glad I did.
So it starts pretty much a day or so after the incident from the last book, so Rose has to go and do the test that she missed while she was on the run with Lissa and when her and Dimitri get to the hut in the forsest something is off with the situation and when he leaves the car to go and investigate of course Rose goes and follows, and it comes to light that the moroi that lived there and the dhampirs are all dead and one of them is a well known guardian who is known as "unbeatable" (not anymore, ha, lame joke) this being the  guardian who was going to test Rose.

So this leaves Rose pretty shaken up as well as the rest of the moroi because they now realise that the strigoi are getting more daring and are attacking them now. It comes to the schools knowledge that they will be going away for Christmas on a ski trip to a place that is going to keep them protected and safe from the strigoi. Before they leave Roses's mother turns up at the school, it also looks as though she is coming with her at the ski resort. Also Christians aunt has turned up, Tasha who is all kinds of beautiful except for a nasty scar that is on her face that was left by an attack of Christian's parents. Christmas Day comes around and her mother gives her a beautiful present and also a bit of gossip that Tasha had asked Dimitri to leave with her and become her guardian, it also comed to her attention that she wants a baby and that she has her sights on Dimitri to be the father. Which of course makes Rose extremely jealous and she makes a relationship with Mason.

So they go to the ski resort, Rose meets a mysterious guy who can visit her in her dreams and is attracted to her, then Mia, Mason and Eddie sneak out in search of the strigoi after another attack happened. Once Rose finds out she goes in search of them with Christian and when finding them thmey get kidnapped and are held hostage for a week before they break free and are then attacked, during the attack Mason is killed RIP and Rose kills her first 2 strigoi. Once back at the academy she has her two tattoos to show that she killed them and her and Dimitri meet to do their training where he tells her that he turned Tasha down and they share an intimate kiss, then it ends.

There's a lot more backstory but that's the main gist, so let me just say this, I adored this book and I was so happy that Dimitri turned her down, but I was also heartbroken that Mason died, I really wanted him to live so they could be best friends, and just be the best of friends. Lissa wasn't as much a main character as she was in the last one which was okay with me because I found her character to be whiny and it annoyed me. Blood whore was mentioned in this one a lot from when they were kidnapped and they tempted Rose to be bit, and she sort of craved it. I'm so in love with this series at the moment, and I'm pretty excited to read the next. The story is gripping and a lot of the time is has you wanting to pick it up all the time. There are moments in when it's slow and you're waiting for something exciting to happen but it's worth the read, also can I just say that I am so excited that Adrian is going to be in the next one, especially since he is also a spirit user and I want to see his and Lissa's relationship develop in a none romantic way of course seeing as I ship her with Christian, but you catch my drift. I also can't wait for Rose and Dimitri to start developing more of a relationship, coz as she said at the end of the last one they still have six months, so I hope it grows more. So all in all I would recommend this series for definite. I feel like there was a lot that happened in this book in such a short amount of pages, which is always good so - but I don't want to give too much away, although I think I already have gave away the biggest spoilers, oh well - not a spoiler free blog everyone! So you will have to read the book for yourself.

If I Should Die by Amy Plum

I was so excited to start this book as I've read the other two and couldn't wait to see how she would finish the trilogy off. Funny story (well to me it is) I had actually been searching for the first book in this series; Die for Me for ages, I would look in all the local bookstores where I left and could never find it and I didn't want to order it online until my wonderful boyfriend ended up spotting it on the shelf when we went book shopping. After I'd bought it I read it pretty much straight away, and then found the next one in another bookshop for a £1 so it was a bargain and it was brand new. Low and behold when I went to read the next one I realised it was the third one and was devastated because I was so excited to finish the series, anyway long story short it took me like a year to finish them cos I couldn't find the second book in stores for ages too.

So on to the review, I will give you the main gist of the whole story:

  • Die for Me;
So basically it's about a girl called Kate who has to move to Paris with her sister Georgie because their parents died in a car crash so they move in with their grandparents. So Kate is quite a shy girl who likes to escape her misery in books and art and just be alone, until one day she meets Vincent.. First of all she meets a group of mysterious people in a cafe who she later sees saving a girl as she goes to jump off a bridge which leaves Kate with all sorts of questions which when she later confronts them they claim to be apart of the police and it's their job to do them types of things. Kate later starts to date Vincent and one day he leaves her to go off and do something with his friend Jules, Kate being inquisitive decides that she wants to follow them, leading her to the met where Kate witnesses Jules trying to save a guy who goes to commit suicide, they both die and Kate has a lot of questions for Vincent, who decides he doesn't want to go into detail which leads to Kate leaving him, later she has to do a project for school where she sees a picture of Vincent and his friends from the 1960s looking identical to what they do in the present. Later she goes to his house to apologise about Jules where she then finds Vincent's dead body leading Jules to say that he will explain everything. So they're Revanants and she learns everything about them and why they're dead and all that, she then finds out that her sister is dating someone called Lucian who is a bad guy as he is a numa and it all comes to the end when Lucian turns up at the La Masion and attacks the house leading Vincent to take over Kate's body while he is Volant and attacking him to then killing him.

  • Until I Die
So it starts where two of the old revenants leave and two more names Violette and Arthur take their place. Kate then finds out that Vincent is known as the champion but she's not sure about it, she starts to do a load of research to come up with a way that will help them be together in the future. In  a meeting with the revenants Arthur singles Kate out and says that she is untrustworthy which results in her having to leave the meeting and a vendetta that Kate feels towards him. She later becomes good friends with Violette and the pair start going to moves together and Violette starts sending her flowers with hidden meanings behind them that only Kate will understand. During this her papys gallery gets broken into by numa who are trying to find information on the champion and the Guerisseur so that they can figure out who the champion is. Kate suspects that Arthur is the bad guy all along and that he is the one who is after Vincent for him being the champion, she explains all this to her sister Georgia and they go on   mission to follow him. A battle breaks out and it turns out it was Violette who was the bad guy all along, saying that she wanted Vincent for herself to take his champion powers and have them for herself, she throws him over a balcony onto a collection of chairs and the numa take his body threatening that they will burn it. Which leaves Kate and the rest of the revenants hopeless that they will kill him. HUGE CLIFFHANGER!

And now the main review;
  • If I Should Die
So it starts with Kate crying outside because she feels she has lost Vincent forever, he then starts speaking to her in Volant form and explains that he feels he doesn't have much time left. Vincent goes in search of Bran hoping that he can give her help on what to do and how to save him, he tells her of the spell that could bring Vincent back into his own body. When Violette releases Vincent (by this point she has already burnt his body so he is linked to her) for 3 days they do their best to make the spell work and bring him back, and the first attempt failed the second one works but only just. Vincent comes back and Kate is over the moon thinking she would never see her love again. Once they get ready to leave New York and return back to Paris Jules explains to Vincent that he needs to stay there as he is not ready to leave telling Vincent that he has fallen in love with Kate and that it's too difficult for him. More plot twists happen when Vincent finds out JB has betrayed them when he made a deal with Lucian to help protect his people as well as the numa, when Vincent confronts him he leaves the La Masion and puts Vincent in control and Charlotte as his second. Kate then finds out that Violette has her grandmother and tells her to come to the hotel she is staying at and to bring Vincent she tries to keep it from him but he turns up anyway. When they confront her things get confusing, she goes to kill Vincent again but Kate offers her self up as sacrifice and she stabs her.. 4 days later Kate reawakens and it turns out that she is a revenant and not only that she is a champion. She escapes from Violette and finds out that Vincent still feels the same as he did when she was human and her family just need to adjust to it. Another battle breaks out and long story short, Kate chops Violette's head off and kills her, Jean Baptiste gets killed and his body thrown into a pit of fire and he dies. All in all Vincent and Kate are still together, Georgia and Arthur finally kills and Ambrose finally tells Charlotte how he feels.

So I loved this book, I thought it had the right amount of energy and love and just so much tension and it was beautiful, I was shocked when it turned out that Kate was a revenant but when you think about it properly it's not really a shock it's sort of expected and you can sort of tell by the way she can communicate with Vincent which is also how I sort of knew she would be the champion, as soon as I found out she was revenant I knew she would be the champion. It didn't lack in anything it was a fantastic read and I'm just gutted that the series is over now and I really want to read her novella but I don't have a kindle :( but yeah, there isn't enough good things I can tell you about this book because it is just so good, and I still love Vincent and Kate's relationship they're just adorable.

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.

Okay so first things first I didn't end up finishing this book like I said I probably wouldn't because it was awful. The plot was all over the place and there was never just a continuous plot throughout the whole book. It lacked in umph and didn't get me excited to read. I'm the type of person who liked to get into bed and chill with a nice book and every time I got into bed I just didn't want to pick it up and read it because I was so bored whilst reading it. Don't get me wrong not all of the book was bad, it had its moments where it got really exciting and I was really getting into it but then it just sorter dwindled and lost where it was going. It was like she had this massive idea laid out on how she wanted the book to be but then just lost it half way through. There were chapters upon chapters where she just rambled on about nothing that was relevant to the story and she would just do chapters that would fill space - it was like she started writing this book and she thought to herself "I can make it as long as I want and as boring as I want and people will want to read it", er no.

I mean I enjoy detailed books as much as the next person but what I don't enjoy is having to read every single characters backgrounds, I understand that it's character building and that's how you get to know a character but just tell me about the important characters and not just the minor ones who don't even really have a role in the book because let's be honest that's just a waste of paper. I was so determined that I would get through it and that I would finish it and that it would be my favourite book that I'd read but it was just so boring. There was nothing that was gripping to me and nothing that kept me on the edge of my seat.

So it's about a girl called Diana who is a historian and is also a witch who doesn't use her powers due to the fact that both her parents where killed whom again were a witch and a wizard and so from then on she refused to use them - one night in the library she takes out the book known as Ashmole 782 which is a manuscript that is supposed to have all the secrets about witches, about how deamons were created and vampires, and she unlocks the spell that is encrypted on this book but she doesn't know how, as soon as people get knowledge on the fact that she has unlocked it they all want the book, and they all want to get their hands on it and find out what it's all about for themselves, enter: Matthew, the strikingly handsome vampire who requires an interest in Diana and who also wants the book for himself. There is Peter Knox who is a not so nice wizard and liked to threaten her and tell her she needs to stay away from him cos he is nothing but bad news and blah blah, all the typical threats. And then the obvious happens, they become... Wait for it... Attracted to each other, oooo. Because that was not obvious in the slightest ey.

The characters were so dull, Diana was just a witch who liked to wow, go to yoga, go for meals and spend a lot of her time drinking wine - pages upon pages were just dedicated to all the different smells of wines and she would describe each and every smell to Matthew who was also a massive wine fan. Seriously didn't see the point in that, it was just your typica I'm a witch he's a vampire but I love him, but I can't have him. So if you have it on your to read pile, I would just throw it away because it's not even worth it.

All in all I rate this 0.5 out of 5.

Also I am currently reading if I should Die the last in the Revanants trilogy, so look out for that review next :)
